Pack your bags and head down to New Orleans this weekend as Wizard World is bringing The Rocky Horror Picture Show to the big easy with Barry Bostwick in tow. Barry will host the screening with local shadow Cast “WelI-Hung Speakers” performing for the special screening at Ernest N. Morial Convention.
Wizard World presents its first screening of the 1975 classic musical The Rocky Horror Picture Show during the Wizard World Comic Con New Orleans, Saturday, January 7.
For the first time, Wizard World, the leading producer of pop culture events nationwide, is expanding its footprint in the entertainment industry. Tickets are available in advance for $10 by clicking HERE. Barry Bostwick, who starred as “Brad Majors” in the cult favorite, will host the event, with the local shadow cast group “The Well-Hung Speakers,” beginning at 7 p.m. on the main show floor (Hall D Stage) at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. “Wizard World is excited to bring this all-time cult favorite to our fans in New Orleans,” said John D. Maatta, Wizard World President & CEO. “It exemplifies the additional emphasis we are placing on programming and extra activities at our shows to enhance the entertainment value for attendees throughout the weekend.”
“It’s just a party, Janet! Come and join me and my ‘Rich Weirdo’ friends for an evening of frolicking and mayhem at a special screening of the cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show and the full Shadow Cast experience,” added Bostwick. “Come and yell and throw stuff at your favorites.”
In The Rocky Horror Picture Show, sweethearts Brad Majors (Bostwick) and Janet Weiss (Susan Sarandon), stuck with a flat tire during a storm, visit the creepy home of eccentric Dr. Frank-N-Furter (Tim Curry), a transvestite scientist in search of a phone. As their innocence is lost, Brad and Janet meet a houseful of wild characters, including a rocking biker (Meat Loaf) and a creepy butler (Richard O’Brien). The film, famed for midnight showings, has been screened regularly since its September 1975 U.S. release, often with audiences in full costume playing out the scenes as they are shown.
The re-imagined, The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Let’s Do the Time Warp Again starring Laverne Cox as Dr. Frankenfurter, Victoria Justice as Janet and Ryan McCartan as Brad, aired on Fox television on October 20, 2016.
The event will also feature a display of numerous items from the original movie, for an even more authentic experience for attendees. Among them are original costumes, original costume designs, handwritten song lyrics, scripts, contracts and behind-the-scenes photos, from the collection of Larry Viezel, noted Rocky Horror superfan, historian and collector.
Wizard World Comic Con New Orleans will feature Tom Felton (Harry Potter franchise), Christopher Lloyd and Tom Wilson (Back To The Future), Stephen Amell (“Arrow”), David Duchovny (“The X-Files,” “Californication”), Michael Rooker (“The Walking Dead,” Guardians of the Galaxy), WWE® Superstars Batista™ (Dave Bautista) and Finn Balor™, Nichelle Nichols (“Star Trek”) and David Ramsey (“Arrow”) among the all-star cast of celebrities scheduled to appear, January 6-8, 2017, at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. The event marks Wizard World’s seventh annual show in New Orleans and the first on Wizard World’s 2017 calendar.
