Stranger Things Bar Goes Dark After Netflix Legal Sends Best Letter Ever

UpSide Down Bar - Stranger Things

If you are going to get shut down by the law then this is the way it should be done. With style and a sense of humor. The team behind one of Chicago’s coolest bars in town called the Emporium had a great idea. They were looking for something fun to do over the summer and they themselves happen to be ‘Stranger Thing’s’ fans and saw how huge the series had become so they decided to open ‘The UpSide Down’ Pop-Up Bar. They serve ‘Stranger Things inspired drinks with the full throwback decor. It has been such a hit this summer that they wanted to extend their run for a while longer. One hitch in that idea though. Netflix has heard about the bar and since Netflix has begun to merchandise products from the hit show they have decided they don’t want unauthorized events happening.

That being said, they series and the Network behind the show turn out to be almost as cool as they show itself. The legal team from Netflix sent out a very ‘Stranger Things’ letter to shut that Sh*! down. Read the letter below.

My walkie talkie is busted so I had to write this note instead. I heard you launched a Stranger Things pop-up bar at your Logan Square location. Look, I don’t want you to think I’m a total wastoid, and I love how much you guys love the show. (Just wait until you see Season 2!) But unless I’m living in the Upside Down, I don’t think we did a deal with you for this pop-up. You’re obviously creative types, so I’m sure you can appreciate that it’s important for us to have a say in how our fans encounter the worlds we build.

We’re not going to go full Dr. Brenner on you, but we ask that you please (1) not extend the pop-up beyond its 6 week run ending in September, and (2) reach out to us for permission if you plan to do something like this again. Let me know as soon as possible that you agree to these requests.

We love our fans more than anything, but you should know that the demogorgon is not always as forgiving. So please don’t make us call your mom.

There you have it. That’s will surely be the end of the Pop-Up bar but I’m sure many fans had fun kicking back in Stranger Things summer.

Whose ready for Season 2 of Stranger Things?
