Freeform Cancels ‘Dead Of Summer’

No more scary stories at summer camp kids. At least not on Freeform. The network announced it has canceled the horror anthology series ‘Dead Of Summer’.  It’s a shame as we had hopes this show would grow over time. Master of Horror Mick Garris directed an episode that had Tony Todd guest starring. That was rad. Wish they had stuck with the show longer.

THR reports the creators of ABC’s Once Upon a Time, the Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis ABC Studios drama took place in the late ’80s and followed counselors at a Midwestern summer camp. Once grads Elizabeth Mitchell and Elizabeth Lail starred alongside Mark Indelicato and Zelda Williams. Ian Goldberg served as co-showruner on the drama, which insiders say was eyeing a creative reboot ahead of a planned second season.

Hopefully Freeform will continue to develop horror shows in the future.
