HBO’S ‘WESTWORLD’, RECAP OF ’TRACE DECAY’ & AN EXCLUSIVE FROM A CO-STAR IN THE EPISODE

As we recently learned, WESTWORLD has been renewed for a second season and it comes with no surprise! Season one has done impressively well! Fluid multi-layered storylines, vivid visuals and triumphant transitions in time, the anticipation for season two is intense but we’ve got to make through season one first!

Last week on WESTWORLD we saw Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood) and William (Jimmi Simpson) journey into treacherous terrain; Maeve (Thandie Newton) delivers an ultimatum; Bernard (Jeffrey Wright) considers his next move. And this past Sunday, Bernard (Jeffrey Wright) struggles with a mandate; Maeve (Thandie Newton) looks to change her script; Teddy (James Marsden) is jarred by dark memories.

Sunday nights’ episode was an immediate answer to the previous weeks big reveal in that Bernard was actually a host! And not only a host, but one Dr. Ford orders to kill Theresa (Sidse Babett Knudsen)…Bernard follows through with Dr. Ford’s order. Covering, erasing and destroy any evidence tying them to her murder.

Maeve was also busy taking control of her own narrative. Reentering as a programmer, making the hosts do her bidding simply by telling them to do so, but this world proves that the definition of “control” is relative and shifts without warning. Flashbacks are severe setbacks to many of the players in this game.

One very interesting revelation in this episode is finally getting the story on the Man in Black (Ed Harris) Taken as a prisoner by Teddy (James Marsden) Yet, even though we got the Man in Black proclaiming that “outside the park, he’s a good guy, a “titan of industry” and philanthropist who had a wonderful marriage that lasted 30 years and a beautiful daughter; last year, the wife took pills and drowned in the bath”, but that contradicts his daughters memories of him. He explains ” she told him that her mother committed suicide because of how awful he was. That he was prone to angry outbursts and sudden collapses, and they were a miserable family.”

And who doesn’t love a great freak-out?! Especially when we, the audience, can relate to what the character is saying! Dolores and Billy wind up at that church steeple ruin we’ve seen before. The one Dolores refers to as “home.” It’s there she too has flashbacks that result in her meltdown and saying “Where are we? When are we? Is this now? Am I going mad? Are you real? I can’t tell anymore.”

And staying true to form, we are left hungry to see what happens next week!

BEHIND-THE-SCENES WITH ROBERT MUKES

When we witness Teddy (James Marsden) and the Man in Black (Ed Harris) stopping to investigate body parts and a damsel in distress, they soon find themselves fighting a beast of a man! Well, that “beast” is none other than Mr. Robert Mukes. Many of you know him as “Rufus” from Rob Zombie’s “HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES

Robert stated “The WESTWORLD production team is extremely detail oriented, and Ed Harris even told me NOT to go easy on him during the scene when I threw him to the ground.” When asked what it was like to work with James Marsden, Mukes went on to say “First of all, James is a super cool guy! He (James) seemed very comfortable and experienced in the fight scene. The entire production is very experienced actually. Stunt Coordinator, Mike Watson, organized a phenomenal scene.”
