Josh Brolin Proves He’s Part Of The DEADPOOL Family With A Message For Ryan Reynolds

After the character was announced during a post-credit sequence in last year’s DEADPOOL, the year has been wrought with speculation on who would be playing Cable in the upcoming sequel. Last week we finally got our answer as none other than Josh Brolin was announced for the role. He showed he had what it took to part of the family when he took to Instagram with a special hashtag, simply #ryanreyondsismybitch.

You know, just meditating. #deadpool2 #clostraphobiarocks #ryanreyondsismybitch #umguys

Along with a photo of Brolin under the blue goo of a special effects head cast, the actor wrote “You know, just meditating. #deadpool2 #clostraphobiarocks #ryanreyondsismybitch #umguys”

It will be interesting to see how the film addresses the character’s story, as in the Marvel Comics he is a product of a mish-mashed timelines and universes, with clones, superhero parents, time traveling and, well, just about everything you’d expect from a comic. You can almost guarantee that it will be referenced at least once meta-style during DEADPOOL 2.

In addition to the sequel of Fox’s smash hit, Brolin can also be seen in the upcoming Marvel film, AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR playing the biggest baddie any hero has faced yet, the cosmos hopping Thanos. Responding to questions about how Marvel feels about their villain partaking in another superhero film from another company, The Hollywood Reporter quoted Marvel Studios guru Kevin Feige as saying:

We don’t have anything written into our contracts about other roles that people can do,” said Feige. “Indiana Jones and Han Solo are the same person … it hasn’t been a problem. And I think Thanos and Cable are two very different characters.”

We’ve already seen some actor crossovers, such as CAPTAIN AMERICA’s Chris Evans coming over from Fox’s FANTASTIC FOUR, and DEADPOOL’s own Ryan Reynolds’ previous jaunt as GREEN LANTERN. Despite losing original director Tim Miller, Reynolds, original writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, and new helmer David Leitch will no doubt come up with creative and hilarious ways to bring Josh Brolin’s Cable to the big screen.

In addition to Reynolds and Brolin, DEADPOOL 2 will star T.J. Miller, Brianna Hildebrand, Zazie Beetz, Karan Soni, and Stefan Kapicic. A release date has yet been announced, but we’ll bring it to you as soon as we hear!
