‘Morbius The Living Vampire’ Spider-Man Spin-off In Works At SONY
‘Dracula Untold’ writers Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama have tackled Morbius The Living Vampire script for Sony Pictures bringing another Marvel character to the big screen. The character first appeared in first issue of the comic The Amazing Spider-Man.
We learner from Hollywood Reporter today that Morbius is Dr. Michael Morbius, a scientist who suffered from a rare blood disease and attempted to cure himself to disastrous results. He instead became afflicted with a condition that was a form of vampirism — the thirst for blood, along with fangs and super strength — and fought Spider-Man. Over time, however, he became a slightly heroic figure in his own right.
No word on a director or anything else so far but it’s been known that Sony was searching for spin-off characters from the Spider-Man universe to launch as stand alone films. Looks like that might have found one that touches two genre’s. Vampires are always awesome and the thought of one from the Marvel universe is interesting.
