Director Osgood Perkins, Son of the late ‘Psycho’ star Tony Perkins made waves last year with his film ‘February’ at the Toronto Film Fest. The film has now been renamed ‘The Blackcoat’s Daughter’ is coming to a theaters and TV really soon.
The film stars Kiernan Shipka, Lucy Boynton, and Emma Roberts and will hit theaters March 31st with an added trick of hitting DirecTV on Feb 16th.
EW spoke with Osgood Perkins about the film last year.
“It’s run into a few little snags here and there with distribution, But A24 will release it theatrically at the very beginning of 2017. Honestly, it’s actually rather good. At this point, I can say that I hated it while I was cutting it, and I was nervous about it when we showed it, but the reception was overwhelmingly positive. I quite like it now.”
The Blackcoat’s Daughter centers on Kat (Shipka) and Rose (Boynton), two girls who are left alone at their prep school Bramford over winter break when their parents mysteriously fail to pick them up. While the pair experience increasingly strange and creepy occurrences at the isolated school, the film cross-cuts to the story of Joan (Roberts), a troubled young woman on the road, who, for unknown reasons, is determined to get to Bramford as fast as she can. As Joan gets closer to the school, Kat becomes plagued by progressively intense and horrifying visions, with Rose doing her best to help her new friend as she slips further and further into the grasp of an unseen evil force.
