Walking Dead’s Lauren Cohan Signs Onto ABC Series With No Contract For S9 From AMC
Well ain’t that bitch! Turns out AMC does not have Lauren Cohan signed for Season 9 of The Walking Dead. Yep, Season 8 is winding down and they have not cut a deal with our Maggie. That leaves all kinds of story lines hanging.
In what could be seen as a premptive move Miss Cohan has gone out and got herself a new series for herself in case the big wigs at AMC don’t get real and offer her a better deal. She signed on for the pilot of a new ABC series Whiskey Cavalier.
THR reports Whiskey Cavalier, starring Scandal’s Scott Foley, is described as a high-octane hour long action dramedy that follows the adventures of tough but tender FBI super agent Will Chase (codename: “Whiskey Cavalier”) who, following an emotional breakup, is assigned to work with badass CIA operative Francesca “Frankie” Trowbridge (codename: “Fiery Tribune”). Together, they lead an interagency team of flawed, funny, heroic spies who periodically save the world (and each other) while navigating the rocky roads of friendship, romance and office politics.
Foely plays Whiskey, while Cohan will take on the role of Frankie, the quick, cunning and completely fearless CIA operative who finds herself tasked with taking out the same target Chase is assigned to protect. As they trade their quarry back and forth, the two of them get in each other’s way, each other’s secrets and each other’s line of fire.
While it’s said she is not looking for equal salary to that of Andrew Lincoln or Norman Reedus she does want to be treated fairly after all these years and she has become an in-demand actress for movies and other TV projects.
THis could obviously play out a few different ways. Let’s just hope it’s in favor of TWD fans the world over. Really suck to lose Maggie.
The Walking Dead returns for the end of Season 8 on Sunday Feb 25th
