My inner child has awakened! The Grinch will be making his debut in November! In recent news creeping from Hollywood, NBC announced that it will be airing the FULL version of HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS. My personal favorite, from the vault of Dr. Seuss’s (Theodor Geisel) quirky books, the classic tale unveils the story of Grinch and the Who’s from Whoville. The Grinch detests Christmas and because of this his heart turns icy and cold. But, little Cindy Lou changes all of this after she encounters the Grinch trying to steal Christmas from the Who’s and the rest is history.

The full telecast, which has alway been trimmed to twenty six minutes, will air in all of its glory and I am elated; the film has not aired in its entirety in a decade.

The film is narrated by Boris Karloff with Dal McKenon as Max and June Foray as Cindy Lou. You may remember the classic song, “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch” sung by Thurl Ravenscroft as one of the key ballads from the film. The film’s soundtrack won the Grammy Award for  Best Recording for Children back in 1968.

Ironically enough, yesterday marks the 17th anniversary of the live action cinematic version of the film starring Jim Carrey. The film fared well in the theaters and is still a film watched heavily during the holidays.

So with our bellies full of turkey, stuffing and pumpkin pie, we can enjoy the film the day after Thanksgiving,  Friday November 25th at 8 P.M. on NBC with our loved ones! Happy holidays folks!

P.S. – Don’t forget to celebrate the annual Grinch day,  December 1st!
