Billed as “a wild adventure of treasure and ghosts, mirages and orphans, shattered dreams and lost loves,” Gold Dust centers on two friends who get more than they bargain for in a get-rich scheme that takes them on a desert trip with dancing assassins, opera in uncharted canyons, bags of cash, flying drug dealers, armed children on dirt bikes, mines, hostages and mirages.
Featuring the track “Too Late to Say Goodbye” by Grammy Award-winning band Cage The Elephant (from their 2017 album Tell Me I’m Pretty), the trailer for Gold Dust looks like a crazy fun romp in the wasteland:
Written and directed by David Wall, the film stars Wall and Darin Brooks (The Bold & The Beautiful), Chris Romano (How I Met Your Mother), David Wysocki (The Young and The Restless), Derek Severson and Garrett Marchbank.
Experimental alt-rockers Cage the Elephant have rocketed into the spotlight in recent years, thanks to the success of their studio albums Tell Me I’m Pretty (2017) and Social Cues (2019), both of which took home Grammy Awards for Best Rock Album. The latter record is also the first in ten years to land three separate #1 singles in Billboard’s Adult Alternative category.
The old school psychedelic video for the title track from Social Cues was shot at Adult Swim’s talk show FishCenter Live:
Social Cues is available on vinyl, CD and digital download through the band’s official site.
