If you’re an O.G. horror fan, you’re undoubtedly familiar with the legendary Goblin — the prog-rock band best known for their classic movie scores including Dario Argento’s Suspiria, Deep Red and Phenomena, and George A. Romero’s Dawn of the Dead.

Shortly after a reunion tour in 2013, the band split into separate factions, with two of their original members — keyboardist Claudio Simonetti and guitarist Massimo Morante — each forming their own spinoff bands while still sharing the Goblin name.

Simonetti’s current group, officially titled Claudio Simonetti’s Goblin (previously Daemonia), features Simonetti on keys (also vocals, theremin and other instruments), now accompanied by guitarist Bruno Previtali, bassist Cecilia Nappo and drummer Federico Maragoni.

The band recently dropped a new single entitled “The Devil is Back,” and to promote the track, they recruited the talents of Australian filmmaker and animator Alex Machin to craft creepy (and gory) stop-motion visuals to add a ceremonial occult ambiance for the just-released music video — which you can watch below.

This moody mini-movie is best viewed on as large a screen as possible — but if not, be sure to listen with headphones or earbuds for an immersive sonic journey!
