Ben Affleck is tossing out his directors chair on ‘The Batman’ movie out the door
Ben Affleck has announced he has stepped down as the director of the new Batman film currently titled ‘The Batman’. He had been on board to both star and direct the film which is a large job. He will still play Batman in the upcoming film but has decided to keep his focus on playing the part instead of directing the shots.
Ben’s statement –
“There are certain characters who hold a special place in the hearts of millions,” Affleck said in a statement. “Performing this role demands focus, passion and the very best performance I can give. It has become clear that I cannot do both jobs to the level they require. Together with the studio, I have decided to find a partner in a director who will collaborate with me on this massive film. I am still in this, and we are making it, but we are currently looking for a director. I remain extremely committed to this project, and look forward to bringing this to life for fans around the world.”
Ben was acutely aware of the backlash over ‘Batman vs Superman’ and how important it is to get this film right for the fans. Warner Bros. followed with –
“Warner Bros. fully supports Ben Affleck’s decision and remains committed to working with him to bring a standalone Batman picture to life,” the studio said in a statement.
No released date has been set for the film as of yet but Ben appears as the Batman in the upcoming ‘Justice League’. I’d rather see him step down as director and make the best film possible then be a ‘do-it’all- guy and fail. batman v Superman sucked ass and fans need better from Warner bros.
