Master of Horror James Wan returns for yet another prequel to his The Conjuring’ franchise, moving forward with a prequel to The Conjuring 2′ entitled The Nun.

The film, based off The Conjuring 2’s untold subplot on how the creepy nun (pictured below) became, well, a creepy demon nun, has currently been announced to be directed by Corin Hardy (The Hallows, The Crow).

The Conjuring’s first prequel, Annabelle’, was, like its previous predecessor, based off of a true story. The film [Annabelle] currently is receiving the sequel treatment, as previously reported. The thing is, unlike Annabelle’, this prequel to The Conjuring’ franchise, has no evidence it’s based off of a true story. Actually, the only thing that’s been proven to be real from The Conjuring 2′ (which the film is a prequel of) was the haunting of Bill Wilkins.

Hardy directs ‘The Nun’ from a script by Gary Dauberman and James Wan. Wan also produces the pic alongside Peter Safran. Hardy has long been attached to a remake of The Crow’, which now has Jason Momoa attached and is currently in need to land a studio after departing from Relativity. Additionally Hardy is known for helming the feature film, The Hallow’ and for his directing work on Ed Sheeran’s, Biffy Clyro’s, Keane’s, Paolo Nutini’s and the Prodigy’s music videos.

There isn’t a set date for release on The Nun, nor a plot or a confirmed cast.

Stay tuned!
