Pain: part of puzzle. Blood: price of freedom. Death: not that easy! Jigsaw is wheeling back to see who deserves to love. Saw: Legacy is coming!

There was a time in which the SAW franchise ruled Halloween at the box office, eventually giving the throne up to the PARANORMAL ACTIVITY series. Lionsgate looks to make that move again as they prepare to release their new entry with SAW: LEGACY and the casting news keeps coming.

“Saw: Legacy”, Expected: October 2017, Sequel.
Saw: Legacy is an upcoming American horror film directed by Michael and Peter Spierig, and written by Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger. It is the eighth installment in the Saw franchise.

With Laura Vandervoort and Hannah Emily Anderson already announced, Deadline is reporting that “Roots” star Mandela Van Peebles has joined the cast of the upcoming horror film. In addition to the aforementioned mini-series, the star can also be seen in WE ARE THE PARTY from 2012.

Little hard details have been released on the upcoming chapter except that it is a reinvention of the franchise. There have even been rumors that SAW alum Tobin Bell may somehow be making his return as infamous labyrinth mastermind John Kramer, better known as “Jigsaw,” though in what capacity he may serve is also unknown.

The producing trio of Mark Burg, Oren Koules, and Gregg Hoffman are making their return, as they have each of the other SAW films. Written by Pete Goldfinger, Josh Stolberg, and franchise creators James Wan and Leigh Whannell, the film will be directed by siblings Peter and Michael Spierig, who brought us UNDEAD, DAYBREAKERS, and PREDESTINATION.

What do you think SAW: LEGACY will end up being about. Could we be seeing the return of “Jigsaw” or are we looking at someone else picking up the mantle to honor his “legacy?” Are you ready to see the franchise take its rightful place at the Halloween box office?
