As regular season TV shows begin airing the finales, all eyes and ears start to fall on the networks as they render their decisions on which shows get to come back and which one fall into obscurity. Deadline is reporting that the CW is bringing back two of its midseason shows: “The Originals” and “iZombie.”
The CW renewed nearly all of its shows earlier on in the season, including all of its DC properties consisting of “Arrow,” “The Flash,” and “Legends of Tomorrow.” Two of its other shows, “The Vampire Diaries” and “Reign” were already finishing up their runs this year, and we heard that freshman shows “Frequency” and “No Tomorrow” were being laid to rest, and that has left open some room for new pilots next season.
“iZombie,” ushered in by Rob Thomas based on the comic by the DC Vertigo imprint, stars Rose McIver as a reanimated corpse who helps the Seattle PD fight crime, as she gains the personality traits and memories of victims brains she eats. The series also stars Malcolm Goodwin, Rahul Kohli, Robert Buckley, and Aly Michalka.
“The Originals” is a spin-off of the CW’s popular “Vampire Diaries” and was a gamble from the network on whether or not it could grow its own legs. The series stars Joseph Morgan, Daniel Gillies, Phoebe Tonkin, Yusuf Gatewood, and Riley Voelkel, with vampires, werewolves, and witches at each other’s throats in New Orleans.
