One of the new crazes of the horror film industry is taking a short film and turning it into a feature-length scare fest. That holds true for the independent horror scene, as well.
Based on a short film titled Open House, The Remains is currently generating buzz throughout the indie scene and offers a synopsis that suggests that you’re going to want to lock up your grandma’s antiques next time you visit.
After a family moves into an old Victorian home, they discover a chest in the attic containing antiques tainted by a malevolent spirit. As the antiques slowly possess each family member, the spirit grows stronger, hellbent on kidnapping the children.
Starring Todd Lowe (True Blood), Samuel Larsen (GLEE), Nikki Hahn (Adventures in Babysitting 2016), Lisa Brenner (The Patriot), Brooke Butler (Sand), and Ashley Crow (Heroes), the film promises to be a chilling tale of why you never go rooting around someone else’s old possessions.
Written and directed by Thomas Della Bella, The Remains will be unearthed on August 5th.
