Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: A Telltale Series was announced in December. This TellTale series set in the Marvel universe has created a lot of buzz after the well-received Batman game released in 2016. Although this game had some bugs and issues with save data the story line and character design was almost universally praised. Telltale has shown time and time again that they understand the properties that they work with very well. They typically take something fans love and keep that spirit of it while adding new and exciting elements. This has been especially present in the ongoing Walking Dead series.

It seems now that we may have a release date for the upcoming episodic series. According to GameStop’s website Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: A Telltale Series will be released on April 25th, 2017. This date was removed from the website so it is possible that this was a mistake but it is also likely that it was removed because an official announcement hadn’t been made yet. The good news is we do have an official plot description!

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series delivers a brand new story of the universe’s unlikeliest heroes, the rag-tag band of outlaws who go by the names Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket, and Groot. In the wake of an epic battle, the Guardians discover an artifact of unspeakable power. Each of the Guardians has a reason to desire this relic, as does a ruthless enemy who is the last of her kind, and who will stop at nothing to tear it from their hands. From Earth to the Milano to Knowhere and beyond, and set to the beat of awesome music, this five-part episodic series puts you in the rocket-powered boots of Star-Lord in an original Guardians adventure, told in the unique and award-winning Telltale style, where your decisions and actions will drive the path of the story you experience.” ~ GameStop
