RAVENSWOOD is an upcoming psychedelic thriller directed by Jon Cohen with a screenplay co-written alongside Darren K. Hawkins. According to IMDB, the synopsis of the film is as follows: When 4 American tourists – Sofia, Carl, Belle and Michael – go on a ghost tour, they get much more than they bargained for, when the ghosts of an evil Doctor and his last patient victim trap them in the old abandoned psychiatric ward.

The film’s cast includes Madeline Marie Dona, Adam Horner (who also serves as executive producer) and Shane Savage. The film poster signifies that the plot of the story is based on terrifying, true events. Cue the sinister sounds of an eulogy. According to an actor from the set, the horror didn’t just stop after the cameras stopped rolling.

Acts of Unspeakable Horror

The location of the film is none other than the infamous Callan Park Hospital of the Insane. The asylum opened its doors in 1878 to 1914. If these walls could talk they would speak of unbearable torture by the hands of medical staff, death by starvation and the caged persecution of the patients who were considered to be animals. Sydney’s shameful asylum would eventually earn the reputation of the city’s most haunted after its complete closure in 2008. But, only after subsequently undergoing multiple name changes.

According to the Daily Mail, one actor appeared to never return to set after hearing someone whisper in his ear while on location. Other actors came forward to reveal that they too had experienced something that frightened them. While frightening, this has only peaked our morbid interest.

RAVENS WOOD will premiere in theatres March 11, 2017.
