A new immersive experience has been announced that gives users a different take on the VR experience: the ability to be the alien with the new Alien: Covenant In Utero
Alien: Covenant In Utero is produced by Ridley Scott and directed by David Karlak, users of Oculus Rift will be able to live as a newborn neomorph, experiencing everything the young alien does as it comes out of its host.
The project is a collaboration between FoxNext VR Studio, RSA VR, MPC VR, a Technicolor company, and technology partners AMD RADEON and Dell Inspiron. The description reads:
“Alien: Covenant In Utero is a 360-degree virtual reality journey into a living nightmare and offers a terrifyingly close and personal encounter as an alien neomorph at the time of its birth. Fans will be able to experience the world around them, reliving the very first memories of the neomorph in an immersive environment.”
The film itself, ALIEN: COVENANT, shows the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovering what could be the perfect world to explore and make a new home. They soon find that they’re not alone as they discover the remnants of the Prometheus expedition, and a new life form that may end their colony before it starts. Directed by Ridley Scott, it stars Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, Danny McBride, Demián Bichir, Carmen Ejogo, Amy Seimetz, Jussie Smollett, Callie Hernandez, Nathaniel Dean, Alexander England, Benjamin Rigby, and hits theaters on May 19, 2017.
In the meantime, if you’re into the whole VR thing, you can get a head start on the infestation by immersing yourself in the life of a new neomorph with Alien: Covenant In Utero, available on April 26th.
