Jessica Biel is back! Details on her return to the small screen.
As the Television Critics Association press tour starts to wrap up, USA networks announced a new anthology series titled “The Sinner,” based on the German novel by Petra Hammesfahr and starring Jessica Biel with Bill Pullman. Biel and producing partner Michelle Purple will serve as executive producers. According to The Wrap, Jeff Wachtel, president and chief content officer for NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment had this to say about the series:
“From the moment Dawn [Olmstead] brought in this provocative thriller, we knew that only an exceptional creative team would realize its full potential. Jessica, Bill, Derek and Antonio take us on an unforgettable ride.”
The book, which was on the bestseller list in Germany for fifteen months, follows a young mother who commits a brutal act of murder in front of her friends and family with no idea or reason why. While the police are ready to close the case and move on, a police commissioner insists on digging deeper, and the two of them begin a journey into her dark past and unraveling psyche.
Jessica Biel is no stranger to genre film and television. Ushering in a new era of film remakes, she came onto the scene in style as the lead in the Michael Bay-produced THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE, the bow-wielding Abigail Whistler in BLADE: TRINITY, a mother searching for her lost child in THE TALL MAN, and kicked total ass in TOTAL RECALL.
No release date has been announced for “The Sinner,” and we’ll keep an eye out for any news about the project as they become available.
