Fox and Facebook are trying something new. The new series ‘Outcast’ from ‘The Walking Dead’ creator Robert Kirkman will air in over 60 countries via Facebook’s new ‘Live’ feature. This will be a first for any broadcaster using this service to launch a new series in Europe or Africa. This is clearly a push from Fox and Facebook to find new audiences and services that they like to watch content from.

Deadline reports that on May 20, at 10PM Central European Time, episode 1 of the series from creator Robert Kirkman (The Walking Dead) will run on Facebook Live across the region including in the UK, Italy, Spain, Poland, South Africa, Germany, Sweden and Turkey. In another first, Fox recently used Facebook Live to promote X-Men: Apocalypse which began international rollout yesterday. A global fan premiere in London was livestreamed with over 700K views on the night.

The Outcast preview will be followed by regular airings beginning June 3 on Fox throughout the region.

The Fox Networks Original is based on Kirkman’s Skybound/Image comic title. It follows Kyle Barnes (Patrick Fugit), a young man who has been plagued by demonic possession all his life. Now, with the help of Reverend Anderson (Philip Glenister), a country preacher with personal demons of his own, Kyle embarks on a journey to find answers and seek a normal life he has never known. But what Kyle discovers could change his fate, and the fate of the world, forever.

The series begins airing in the U.S. on Cinemax on June 3 and has already been renewed for a second season. It originally had its world premiere at SXSW.
