Holy sh*! Henry Rollins was in consideration for one of the baddest and most coveted roles in TV. Negan on ‘The Walking Dead’. I could totally see him swinging Lucille. Turns out he had a connection to the role before fans of the TV show had even heard of Negan.
“I was up for the role of Negan because Charlie Adlard, who worked on the comic book, based that guy on me and so I was a shoo-in for an audition,” Rollins told Forbes. “The Internet was wild with speculation because in the upcoming season they were going to introduce the character.”
“I went for the audition and there were five pages of really cool dialogue with all these curses and it was beautiful, but I didn’t get it,” he continued. “I later saw a photograph of the guy who did get it and he looks almost exactly like the comic book rendering.”
Obviously he’s talking about Jeffrey Dean Morgan whom we met in the season 6 finale. Morgan does look the part and I thought he was great in what little we have seen from him so far. Still, I’m a huge Henry Rollins fan and he would have worked.
Cool little fact about our favorite show. #TWD for life!
