The Munsters Making A Comeback At NBC From Seth Meyers

NBC is dipping it’s foot back in the macabre humor bin with a run at The Munsters. A 60’s classic comedy about a lovable family of Monsters who really aren’t all the different from us while looking like…well, Monsters. It’s getting a modern day reboot from Seth Myers and Jill Kargman. Taking them out of the fictional suburb and dropping them into the big city as they struggle to fit in Brooklyn, NYC.

The Munsters Reboot

Deadline reports This is not the first time a reboot has been attempted and it did not end well. It starred Jerry O’Connell and was a hour long drama. Jill Kargman will write the script and will executive produce with Sethmaker Shoemeyers Productions’ Meyers and Mike Shoemaker. Universal TV is the studio.

The project originated with Kargman, who came up with a new take on the classic sitcom, which ran on CBS for two seasons from 1964-66. Her team tracked down the rights to Universal TV, where she teamed up with Late Night host Meyers, who has a producing deal at the studio.

I always loved watching the re-runs as a kid. Hope this one goes well.
